David Thorne’s conviction was based entirely on the false confession of Joseph Wilkes, who was intimidated by detectives and threatened with the death penalty. Joe has since recanted

A Sex Crime?
Condoms scattered on the victim's bedroom floor. I would immediately think she was intimately involved with someone relative to the time of her death. This was never a motive to this police department. Probably because they were all lining up to point their fingers at fellow cops and accusing each other of having sexual relations with the victim.

Who Cares?
"...who cares about the blood splatter, who cares about blood stains on couch pillowcases, and who cares about bloody footprints." - Post-Conviction Judge Richard Reinbold

Truth Fears No Questions
David volunteered to take a polygraph test immediately upon appearing for questioning. The detectives refused him one, saying only they can authorize polygraph tests and they weren't giving him one. David has never refused to answer any question asked of him by me, the media, the attorney or anyone. He is innocent. Free David Thorne.
Pittsburg Steelers Sweatshirt
This is a photo of the Pittsburg Steelers sweatshirt removed from David Thorne's car under a search warrant. It was logged on the evidence sheet as a Pittsburg Steelers sweatshirt. By the time it reached the lab, it was a Harley Davidson sweatshirt with blood stains on it. Since it was in the possession of ex-Detective Bud Sampson, he would logically be the person responsible for switching the shirts.

Acceptance
I cannot accept wrongfully convicting a man because you're a lazy cop with a motive to pin the crime on someone else. I will change this.

Exonerate
ex·on·er·ate

1: to relieve of a responsibility, obligation, or hardship
2: to clear from accusation or blame
— ex·on·er·a·tion noun
— ex·on·er·a·tive adjective
Intimacy a Selective Issue?
This area of the victim's bedroom was littered with sexual objects. Under her bed there was reportedly many sexual "toys", none of which made it to evidence. She was reportedly having sexual relationships with many police officers. This was never considered a crime with a sexual motive even though David Thorne was arrested due to the fact that he had been intimately involved with her. If that alone was motive, why were no policemen interviewed concerning this crime?

Blood Everywhere Except On The Accused
This photo depicts the end of the victim's couch. The killer stood in front of this couch leaving their bloody shoeprints on the rug, transfer from the bloody legs of their pants on the skirt of the couch and wiped the bloody murder weapon on this pillow. Joe Wilkes falsely confessed to this crime. His recovered clothing had no blood on it.

What About The Children?
"I don't know"
Joseph Wilkes, the man that initially confessed to being hired to commit the murder, responded on the stand 138 times with the response "I don't know", or something similar, would you believe that he was being truthful about his involvement in the crime? The truth never changes. It's only when you lie that you can't remember the answers given previously.

Spoiled Brat Rich Kid
Detectives called David Thorne a "smartass" and a "spoiled brat rich kid". They coerced Joseph Wilkes into confessing to a crime he didn't commit and implicating David Thorne. While initially interviewing David, detectives said to him, "Help us help you". David's answer was, "What? You think I did this?" Being incredulous evidently made David a "smartass". All three of those detectives know they coerced Joe and had him implicate David. They all know they are innocent. How do they tell themselves that's alright? This is not justice.
Take a Stand
The public is finally beginning to realize that citizens are indeed wrongfully incarcerated in our country due to all of the overturned convictions. The fact that wrongful convictions continue to happen in light of such information is what should make people take a stand.
